Unlike traditional slip-joint or channel-type pliers that rely on friction and can slip under heavy pressure, KNIPEX Cobra® pliers feature a patented push-button fine adjustment mechanism and self-locking 3-point jaw geometry. Once positioned, the specially hardened teeth (approx. 61 HRC) bite firmly onto round, square, or hex workpieces. You only need to apply downward force to the top handle—the plier self-locks onto the pipe with zero slipping or dangerous knuckle crushing.

Yes. The KNIPEX Pliers Wrench features smooth, zero-backlash parallel jaws that adjust continuously via push-button to any size within its range (e.g., up to 2" / 52 mm on the 10" 86 03 250 model). Because the jaws remain perfectly parallel under load with a 10:1 mechanical lever advantage, they grip entire flats rather than corners, preventing rounding on delicate brass, chrome-plated plumbing fixtures, or high-tensile fasteners. It also functions as a ratcheting wrench by loosening grip pressure slightly on the backstroke.

The KNIPEX TwinGrip (82 01 200 / 82 02 200) combines standard side-gripping jaws with a specialized front-jaw opening featuring an aggressive concave tooth profile. This allows the tool to grip stripped, rusted, or sheared fastener heads straight-on from the top where standard pliers cannot achieve leverage. Its high-ratio 5-point push-button adjustment accommodates screw heads and round shafts from 4 mm to 22 mm (5/32" to 7/8").

KNIPEX Tools LP warrants its tools to the original purchaser against defects in material and workmanship for the lifetime of the tool (KNIPEX Lifetime Limited Warranty, USA & Canada). Claims go through KNIPEX Tools LP or the dealer where the tool was purchased and require a Return Goods Authorization (RGA) number, proof of purchase and return of the tool. Misuse, abuse, alteration, accidents, lack of maintenance and normal wear are not covered.

Most commercial cutters are hardened to 55–58 HRC, which is sufficient for copper wire but dulls or dents when cutting piano wire, hard spring steel, or hardened bolts. KNIPEX utilizes a secondary high-frequency induction hardening stage exclusively along the cutting edges to achieve 64 HRC, while retaining a shock-absorbent core across the forged plier handles. The CoBolt® (71 01 200) leverages compound lever mechanics to deliver 30x hand-force multiplication, effortlessly shearing 5.2 mm soft wire and 3.6 mm hard wire.

To preserve smooth action and prevent surface oxidation, periodically apply a few drops of light machine oil or corrosion-inhibiting lubricant (such as Ballistol or multi-purpose mineral oil) directly into the box-joint and push-button spring mechanism. Clean off concrete dust, drywall compound, or metal shavings after harsh jobsite use. For black atramentized or phosphate-coated tools, wiping with an oily cloth maintains a protective micro-barrier against humid shop environments.
